PART 1 GENERAL
SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
- Site-fabricated stretched fabric panel system shall consist of continuous perimeter and midwall mounting channels applied directly to substrate. Facing fabric shall be stretched over core materials, leaving fabric floating above core surface.
- System shall allow for removal and replacement of fabric facing from individual panels. Removal of fabric shall allow access to surface behind fabric, without dismantling, removal or replacement of mounting channels or core. Exposed mounting channels shall not be visible.
- Prefabricated panels do not satisfy intent of this specification.
SUBMITTALS
- Submit manufacturer’s product specifications and data, including complete laboratory test results, representative details, and other information necessary to establish that product is appropriate for application. Submit drawings showing representative details and sections, thickness, and other similar detailed information necessary to fully describe installation. Submit samples of mounting channels, fabric samples in manufacturer’s memorandum size, and core samples of type required by application.
QUALITY ASSURANCE
- Installation shall be performed by a firm or entity authorized to install system and licensed to work as a general contractor or subcontractor, and shall demonstrate a minimum of three years successful experience in installations of site-fabricated system.
DELIVERY, STORAGE AND HANDLING
- Protect materials from excessive moisture in shipment, storage, and handling. Fabric facings shall be inspected upon arrival for flaws or defects. Fabric that is flawed shall be rejected. Do not store fabric in bolts in an upright position, or beneath other materials as creasing may result.
PROJECT CONDITIONS
- Schedule installation of stretched fabric panel system as late as possible in sequence of construction schedule to reduce damage. No wet work shall remain with exception of touchup.
- Space shall be enclosed and weather tight, with temperature and humidity stable at values near those indicated for final occupancy.
WARRANTY
- Provide manufacturer’s standard three-year limited warranty.

FABRICATION
- Site-fabricated (Acoustical) (Tackable) Wall (Ceiling) System:

- Fire Resistance: ASTM E84 – Complete panel assembly, including mounting channels, core, and fabric, as installed in the field, including midwall joints running the length of the sample, shall have a Class A or Class I rating for flame spread and smoke generated.
- Acoustical Performance: ASTM C-423 – Noise Reduction Coefficient (NRC) shall be .80 minimum for acoustical applications in 1” core thickness.
- Fabricate panel system on jobsite to conform precisely to existing conditions in areas indicated for their application.
- Panel edges shall abut adjoining millwork or to conform to adjacent joint conditions without reveals or gaps unless required by design. Visible surfaces shall be fully covered and free from wrinkles, sags, blisters and foreign matter. Seaming shall not be included unless required by width of fabric goods.
PART 3 EXECUTION
EXAMINATION
- Examine substrate and spaces in which work is to be performed. Do not proceed with installation until unsatisfactory conditions have been corrected.
INSTALLATION
- Apply framing materials to surfaces scheduled to receive system. Secure with fastening devices appropriate to substrate. Framing shall be plumb and straight, flush, and in proper alignment. Mounting channel details and core coloration shall not be visible through facing fabric.
- Core materials shall be installed in a continuous manner, flush and level with framing materials.
- Cut fabric from each roll maintaining a regular sequence of drops and matching direction of weave for sequential and uniform installation. Install fabric with warp and weft threads plumb, level, and true. Patterns, textures, and grain of fabric shall be aligned at seams and throughout entire seam-joined wall panel array without distortion to geometry of fabric or pattern.
- Fabric shall be applied securely to grounds using tools appropriate to joint condition and nature of fabric. No stapling or gluing of fabric to core shall be permitted. The use of adhesive tape or spray is not permitted for securing fabric or core.
CLEANING
- Clean exposed surfaces of wall fabric. Trim and remove loose threads. Remove surplus materials, rubbish, and debris, leaving area neat and in a clean condition.
FIRE CODE COMPLIANCE
Novawallâ meets the Class I requirements contained in NFPA Life Safety Code No. 101, the basis for the model codes and local fire statutes and regulations nationwide. Complete and unedited ASTM E84 (series) test reports are contained in the Novawallâ Specifier’s Handbook.

LIMITED WARRANTY
Novawallâ installations are guaranteed against defects in materials and workmanship for a period of three years from the date the installation is completed by an authorized installer. Warranty excludes defects in the appearance or wear characteristics or the facing fabric, The exclusive remedy shall be that the installation shall be repaired or replaced to the extent necessary to eliminate the defect.
